| WARNING THIS IS DEPRESSING!!!!
In a broken down cottage lives a man, Who like the cottage is shredded and torn, He waits for a love long gone from this world, His story however is not to remain untold.
Long ago across the lands of despair, Lived the truest and purest love, A love as passionate as the reddest rose, Their story however was a tragic one.
This story's bride was a beautiful noble mademoiselle, who loved the simple pleasures in life, One of those simple pleasures was men, Vixen though she was she would soon meet her match.
The groom was a lowly peasant boy, who spent most of his time working, Thou he was admired by all the lasses, He remained humble and true.
One night in the midst of a festival, She caught the young lads eye, He knew then she was the one, He saw his future in her eyes.
He approached her shy at first, But he had her with just a sentence, “Your eyes they glisten in the moon light, In them I could get lost forever.”
She knew it was a feeble attempt, But she grabbed his hand anyway, They took a walk along the lakeside, They became lost in the moment.
Years they spent together in secret, They even were married under the moon, On that night they became blessed, For a baby is now in her womb.
But I have failed to mention, Later that night the priest confessed, The father became filled with anger, The next day he approached the boy.
Without explanation the boy was sent to war, He swore one day to return to find her, He did not know then the horror he faces, Shipped off to war with no hope of return.
Why he was off at war a baby was had, When her father found out that the baby, The poor baby was the son of that boy, It drove him mad, so mad he burned them alive.
The man continued to fight for freedom, His purpose was to get back to her at all cost, But as faith would have it, in the midst of battle, He was taken prisoner and tortured for 10 years.
He finally escaped that hell and headed home, When he reached his town he found his house, The house reflected the man, old and torn, He then asked of his wife to find what happen.
Now then man waits in his home for death, He waits for his death in high hopes, For when he dies he will be reunited with his family, Years later the man dies, and no one knew of his pain.
He fought battles for her and loved her more and more, He went through torture for her and his son, His love was pure but his blood was not, Why is it that he will long be forgot? | |

| Great epic love story! I really like the title you gave it. It reflects the bittersweet quality of it. | |
